Pre-Prosthetic Surgery

The preparation of your mouth before the placement of a prosthesis is referred to as pre-prosthetic surgery.

Some patients require minor oral surgical procedures before receiving a partial or complete denture in order to ensure the maximum level of comfort and fit. Because dentures sit on top of the gum tissue and jaw bone, it is very important that the underlying bone and soft tissues be the right shape and size.

Dr. Nishimoto can perform pre-prosthetic surgery to deliver maximum stability, comfort, and function. Every patient’s mouth is different, so every treatment is different. We customize each treatment plan to a patient’s individual needs and preferences. Preparing the mouth for a denture can include various procedures, and one or more pre-prosthetic treatments may be performed, including

  • Bone smoothing and reshaping

  • Removal of excess bone

  • Bone ridge reduction

  • Removal of excess gum tissue

  • Impacted teeth exposure

We look forward to caring for you and reviewing your specific needs during your appointment. Please call to schedule an appointment.
