IV Sedation Instructions

  • You may not have anything to eat or drink (including water) for six hours prior to your surgical appointment.

  • Okay to take your normal morning medications with a small sip of water.

    • Dr. Nishimoto may advise you to hold specific medications at your consultation appointment

  • Please wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing so that monitors can be placed (EKG leads and blood pressure cuff).

  • A responsible adult must accompany you to the office, remain in the office during your surgery, and drive you home. It is best to have somebody available the rest of the day in case you need assistance.

  • Plan on resting at home the day of surgery. Do not drive a car the day of surgery or undertake any important matters for 24-hours after surgery.

  • Contact lenses, jewelry (lip and tongue piercings), and dentures must be removed at the time of surgery.

  • No smoking or vaping for at least 12 hours before surgery.

  • If you develop a head or chest cold, fever, sore throat, or stomach or bowel upset, please notify our office as soon as possible before surgery. Your procedure may need to be rescheduled.
